After school, I followed my Parent’s plan: “Get an education and a Job will look after you for the rest of your life”. After qualifying as a Metallurgical Engineer, I worked in the Mining Industry for years. I often found myself working 18-hour days, seven days a week. I enjoyed the challenge; every day was different, but the instability of the mining industry and the nature of my job meant that I was retrenched and transferred a few times to work on big national projects.
Endless disagreements with management, never getting any credit for my work; I woke up one morning thinking: “Is this it? Is this what I will be doing for the rest of my life? The answer: NO.
I resigned from my chosen career and started a business in the manufacturing industry, developing my own products and marketing strategy. Everything went well until I lost a big contract, forcing me to sell my business to cover my debts. I lost everything.
Totally disparate at the time, I saw an advert in a magazine called the number, and I was introduced to Herbalife Nutrition.
The world-class products, mentor support, and opportunity for personal growth and development attracted me to the opportunity.
I implemented an action plan, built momentum, and got my self-confidence back. The entire experience has been life-changing.
